Motorsports and the world of whiskey may not appear to belong on the same stage at first glance. One of the most notable partnerships in this space began in 2022 between Jack Daniel’s and McLaren Racing. Under this partnership, three different limited-edition bottles have already been released. The fourth release in the series, the 2026 McLaren Mastercard F1 Team X Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, introduces a subtle but meaningful variation from the brand’s classic expression. This special edition is bottled at 86 proof, which corresponds to approximately 43% ABV.

A Higher Proof, A More Defined Character

While standard Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey is typically bottled at 80 proof, this limited edition slightly increases the alcohol strength. On paper, the difference may appear modest, but it brings a noticeable intensity to the whiskey’s aromatic profile.

With less dilution, the expression delivers a fuller texture and a more pronounced structure. On the palate, notes of caramel, vanilla and lightly toasted oak stand out, while the subtle banana tone, often associated with Jack Daniel’s signature profile, remains clearly present.

The whiskey still follows the brand’s traditional Tennessee production method. Produced at the Lynchburg distillery, the spirit undergoes the Lincoln County Process, where it slowly filters through layers of sugar maple charcoal after distillation. This step contributes to the smoother, rounder character that defines Tennessee whiskey. The spirit is then matured in newly charred American oak barrels.

A Tribute to Two Milestones

The 2026 edition represents more than just another whiskey release. It also marks two significant milestones. One is McLaren Racing approaching its 1000th Formula 1 Grand Prix. The other is the 160th anniversary of Jack Daniel Distillery’s Tennessee whiskey production.

The bottle design reflects McLaren’s racing identity through its distinctive orange and black color palette. Graphic elements on the label subtly reference the visual rhythm of tire marks on a racetrack. The design is also intended to align with the celebratory visuals the team will use throughout the 2026 Formula 1 season.

Mark Bacon from the global leadership team at Jack Daniel’s describes the collaboration as a meeting of shared values. According to Bacon, both brands share a mindset rooted in heritage, innovation and the pursuit of new possibilities. The limited edition bottle reflects that spirit through its design and concept.
